The following is an authentic account of the troubles at Somcrville, yesterday : Muih bad feeling had been engendered by the election, and the negroes had attended the polls heavily aimed, and made threats to burn the town. A prominent negro politician, Cash Warren, who had been abuiug a rori of Mayor llendon yesterday on tbe street, snapped a pistol twice in the Miyor's race. The Mayor then drew a pistol and shot him dead. Several shots were fired simultaneously by the friends of Mayor llendon. Tbe negroes accused one Oscar Burton-o- t firing the shot that killed Warren, and when he appeared on the streets the police attempted to arrest him, but he resisted. They then fired on him. He returned the fir and inflicted mortal wounds on Albert and Paul Roves, and a daugerous one on Judge Roves. A party of negroes then opened fire on him, but as yet none of the thirteen wounds he received are fatal. Parties from Somtrville this morning report that the fighting has been stopped aud everything is quiet. New York, 8 There are few developments about the Mr. Beecher has Beecher case to day. gone to Peekskilt, and the committee are out of town. Gen. Butler is in the city, but refuses to talk about the case. Motil-to- n has concluded his statement. It is very long. lie has said to an interviewer that the mention of Mrs. Hooker's note in his letter to Beecher was not intended to create an impression ef Beech- er's guilt. A committeeman has said if Moulton submitted a statement, but dethe commitclined to be tee would not accept it. Tilton said to a reporter, who asked if it was notagreeable to Beeeher to have Moulton testify first, that if so, he was willing to give to it him, as he, Beecher, acceded all the advantage possible. He, Tilton, received a vindication every time any real fact in the matter comes out, and could afford to wait a little longer. Judge Morris says that Tilton's suit about to be brought against Beecher, is irresptctive of tle committee's action; that body will neither hasten or delay the commencement of the suit, which will be brought in the Supreme Court and be an action against Beecher for criminal connection with Mrs. Tilton. The amount of damages claimed will be ia acordance with the suit; but lilton s purpose is, not vo receive any pecuniary benefit, but simply to vindicate his good name against the atrocious slanders to which he has been subjected t so far as Mrs. Tilton is concerned. The case wiil be pressed forward to the earliest possible day. Henry C.
