The approaching election for offi cere of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, is eliciting much comment, and induces unusual speculation even in circles which have heretofore ab stained from active participation in contests which are supposed to be merely local in character. But the people at large have come to the con clusion, that railroad transportation affects them materially, and are disposed to interfere in casting their in fluence on the side of the opponents of selfish and corrupt combinations Boston now exercises the controll ing influence in the management of the U.P. road. But there is apparent ly a probability that the scepter ef authority will be transferred to New York. A powerful combination has been effected to supersede the present majority, by the substitution of a class that has no voice in th disec-tioof its affairs. It has been ascertained that a Syndicate has been organized under the patronage of leading cupitalists to buy up the stock of small shareholders, and that it requires less than twenty thousand shares in order to secure the future n management. The opposition to this movement will be unable without purchases a, higher than current quotations to eompete for the vote of the stockholders The price of tha stock has suddenly taken an upward tendency. For election purposes and the emoluments arising from the control of this great trunk line, the stock is really worth more than it is at present selling, but it has been paralyzed by inexcusable mismanagement, and ty the scandalous speculations which were exposed during the Credit - 2. o SXORIIEIIY Iff THE CAPITAL. 3UGHU1 HEREBY JBRIGUT'S TIN WORK ! tion, Inflammation or Ulceration of tb UNPRECEDENTED & KIDNEYS.
