Messrs. Robertson and Walker stated that they had not came for the purpose of making the investigation then, but merely to form the basis for it. Libert and the Secretary and the Surveyor-GeneraThere seems to be bitter opposition to the confirmation of McCook as Governor. A request to retain Libert, signed by all but two of the Republican members of the Legislature, y was forwarded to President Grant. The impression prevails among that the nomination of an outside party for Governor would meet with less oppobitiou. Cincinnati, 29. At Aurora, Ind., it is reported that seven persons are lying at the point of death from having eaten fresh pork with trichina in it. Two weeks ago Mrs. Henry Traynor had two hogs killed for family use. A few days ago, eating the meat, Mrs. Traynor and one of her children were attacked7 with what appeared to be typhoid fever. Mrs. Benton, wife of a German mechanic, visited her, and with two children 'partook of the meat, and in a few days were attacked with the same symptoms which attracted the attention of. the physician, and on examining it found it literally alive with trichina. At this time Mrs. Traynor and three children, Mrs. Benton and two children are not expected to live. Chicago, 28. The Committee on Asylum reported adversely to making the Cleveland Asylum a general institution; report adopted. A resolution was passed thaokinf Rev. Mr. Sanger's report on the Centennial and literature, favored the establishment of an official organ and the publication of a history of the order of American Judaism, to be ready for the Philadelphia Exposition; report adopted, with amendment that the official organ should not be at any pecuniary risk to the order.
