Show OGDEN. UTAH. . WEDNESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 21, 1921. THIRTEEN CIlDREf THE EMPTY STOCKING wind-blow- - . -- By Grantland- Rice. Thirteen children In one family, who would not have, had any Christmas presents, are to be cared for by one Good Fellow. The father, who has usually been able to keep his family in fair circumstances, is out of work, the :: -- -- mother ill. . This is but one instance of many where Ogden' men and women have aken upon themselves the burden of bringing' Christmas cheer to homes where there is need. While probably 100 families will b thus cared for, another 100 or more will be cared for from the Good Fellows' fund and storehouse, distribution being made by j oo dozens of other Good Fellows. While this splendid work is well under way, many more letters appealing to Santa Claus or the Good Fellows for aid are being received. Typical of these is one signed, "A little friend" and written on a piece of brown paper: "Dear Sirs: I am a little girl and I have a little sister, she' is seven. We have no father and mother is out of work. .We will appreciate what you will give -- us for Christmas.- - Wishing you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year." Another that was apparently labor' iously printed by a small girl, says: SHE WANTS DOLL. "Dear Good Fellows: My daddy Is out of work and mama has to work. Would you please bring me a doll and cradle, my brother a sled and baby sister a little ' doll buggy." From a near by, came the followingcommunity pathetic appeal: "Dear Good Fellows: I am an Og, Today is the shortest day of the enden boy, but I am living in tire' , year, there being but nine hours as we moved here during the tomato and 13 minutes of. daylight. season and my papa has had very litthe sun rose but not visible tle since October.
