Show at Logan. Sleetiugs A large number of the peopls of Cache Ceuntj assembled in the bowery at 10 a.m. gan on Sunday,' Aug. 26th, at to Called order was by Prest. Meeting Lo- 15 Jr. Young, After singing by the choir offered by Bishop W. Budge. FRE8T. u. prayer was K. We were greatly honored in being the instruments in II is hands to redeem the earth and prepare a place for His coming l, was necessary for us to become as like Him as possible, and to do this we must lenrn of Him and be guided by Him iu all things. The history of the world showed that all who did tbis were opposed by the wicked. U was so now. It was not so easy a matter as some might Buppose for the Lord to get a people who would devote to righteousness and to serving Him with all their hearts. It was the disposition of mankind to take tbeir own course and follow their own inclinations. The world was without the knowledge of God, and no one could know auytbing of llim nor His ways, except He revealed it. God bad spoken again from the heavens, and was gathering His people here that tbey might learn of Him and be oo workers with Him in establishing His great latter-dakingdom No persons need be in doubt concerning these things or of his acceptance with God. A way was provided by which this knowledge could be obtained, namely, by obedience to His laws and ordinances. Prest. Wells went on to show the design of God in permitting evil and death to exist on the earth that His children might be tested and tried, to see if they were worthy of an exaltation, many even of those who received the gospel could not endure the test, and it was only them who "endured to the end" and were found faithful in all things who would inherit the eternal riches and be saved in the celestial Kingdom The Lord would have a people of this character or the scriptures would not be fu'filled. The speaker was happy in the knowledge that such people were living in the various settlements in thess valleys. But then are some who took the blessings God was bestowing upon them, aod handed them over to the dev il. Wonld such ebtaia the eternal richthem-solv- e y es? Never! .T,-- . The speaker then . touched upon the power and authority of the Priesthood; the ordinances administered for the of the dead; the foroe of the testimony in favor of the gospel, which was sufficient to convince every honest heart; the efforts of the Enemy to discourage the Saints aud produoe disunion; the antagonism between' the righteous and the wicked; and the final subjeotion of the Kingdoms of (kit world to the dominion of God and His Christ, llecon-cludeby showing that the object to be atuined in laboring in this great work worthy of all our elforts.and by ex. sorting all present to a oontinuence in welldoing that they might secure the eternal riches. Choir sang the anthem "Jerusalem my was home." Prayer by Bishop L. Farr. 2 pm. At 2 p m. the congregation again bled, filling the extensive bowery to overflowing. Choir sang "Glorious things of thee re spoken;" after which prayers were offered by Elder Lorenxo D. Young Choir sang "0, Jesus the giver of all as-se- ni we . tnjoy." The sacrament was then administered, the choir singing 'arise my soul arise." The speaker believod that whether we were admitted or not, the time would soon, come when we should enjoy the rights and privileges to which we were en'itled. The elements necessary to coustitute a State-- , Rfei the qualities es seatial to greatness were here, and we were free from many of the evils pre In rlgard to the vailing in the world next Presidential electiou, the general opinion was, that if the Republicans fiiled to inflame the N'rth with the idea that a Democratic victory meant a restoration of the South to power, then Tiiden and Hendricks would be elected. The candidates of either party he considered better men than the general run of politicians. But our trust wa not in parties, and we bad no assurance that a change of administration would br rig to us our rights. There was considerable talk about polygamy, but he found that this was not objected to, providing it was only of a certain sort. Chastity and virtue were laughed at in the world, and unless we as a people sustained the principles of marriage revealed from heaven for the preservaiion of virtue, it would be lost to the earth. Elder Can non impressed upon the young men the necessity of marriage, and the of the crime of unchastity. No man in the Church could indulge in lust and retain his standing, lie hoped to see the time when we would have power to enact and enforce laws against seduction, adultery and other iniquities. He alluded to the evils introduced in our midst, and said though many would fall in consequence, the work of God would go on, and those who loved righteousness would ov rcouie. He spoke of the ineffectual efforts made to unseat him, of the pleasure he had felt in his labors during the past session, aod his abiding faith in the triumph of the truth. s2o io PEEBLES' DRUG STORE!
