The James party of surveyors, consisting of engineers J. E. Jarues, Samuel Purdy and others, returned to this city last night, by tht Arizona stage, from Yuma, all well. They have made a thorough exploration south of the boundary line to the gulf of California, and have made important geographical discoveries. They have explored one of the most sjngular and heretofore unknown portions of the coast, overcame many dangers, and suffered much hardship. The main object which was to be determined, was the feasibility of turning the waters of the Gulf of California into the Colorado desert, thereby creating a climatic change in Southern California.
