The "cards" which appeared in the Junction of Wednesday last and the Junction Dispatch of Thursday, affect-to- d it little handful of members like a number of electrio shocks, and left them with but two names, one of which but for strong ycrsuanion would also have been withdrawn, leaving them with nothing but a small Broom, manufactured into a citizen about a week ago. It will be seen from their new ticket, above, that they are trying another lit tle dodge. They have copied the Peo ple's Ticket in its principal features, in serting names enough of their own parly to make it an opposition. On the elec tion day they will offer printed ballots to the voters which at the first sight would deceive many f the uninitiated, as most of the names on the regular ticket are arranged, so as, to strike the eye, while the names of their own party are tucked in, Sand with fashion. Tho fact that they still nominate for who has emphaticMayor a ally declined the nomination, aud is unwilling to serve in that capacity, proves that their motive is simply opposition, and their object division. With the peoplo of this Territory Union has ever been ft watchword. In politics as in religion they aim at one object with united action. This unity is our safeguard against the nefarious plottings of unprincipled adventurers, who are seeking to obtain the upper hand of us. We warn the people of Ogden against the devices of the few who are trying to drive the thin edge of a very small wedge into our cherished institutions. Contention is their ruling spirit, and our greatest enemies are their allies And ts eompanions. On Monday next pur oity election will take place at the City Hall. Every man and woman in Ogden, who is twenty-on- e years of ago, a citizen of the United States, and has resided in Ogden during the last six months should go to tho polls and vote aocording to his or her desires and convictions. The People's Ticket has been arranged according to law and our established customs. Those who sustain, it, at the same time wield their influence- on the side of order, union and peace. The other ticket has been thrown on the surfaoe by agitation and contention, aud its supporters will each take a throw with the apple of dis ord that U may drop Into our midst and do- its evil work. Citizens of Ogden, take your choice, freely, voluntarily and with eyes open to future results. - Smelting and ANayiug. The Social Problem. Deseeet Telkqkapu. pursue icy! Why not establish the necessary works here, and save the expense of transporting waste material, and keep for circulation in our own midst the cost of reduction? The moneyed men of Weber County are blind to their own interests, if they cannot see the immense benefits which would accrue to them and this whole district by the establishment of smelting works in Ogdon. This is the place of We have called their attention places. to it before, and we speak of it again, that they may not complain, when out-Bicapitalists come and take advantage of their lost opportunities, that they did'nl think of it and could'nt see it. If such an establishment were opened in Ogden enough minerals would pour into it from places in our own immediate vicinity to keep the works in active operation incessantly, Open your eyes, .Ogden men, aud do not let this chance to make money and increase business slip through your fingers into more ready hands! In this connection we will add, there is no need fur miners and prospectors to Bend their specimens east, west or to Salt Lake City to bo assayed. We have au assay cr in Ogden, thoroughly versed in the theory of chemistry and mineral ogy, ami who has a practical acquaint ance with our Utah ores. Mr. J. Evans of this city, is capable of giving a complete and perfect assay of any specimen that may be submitted to him, and his decisions can be better relied on than many that have been made in Salt Lake and other places. Yery Consistent. The Denver Aeir rejoices over the prospect that the Utah election case will be brought beforo Congress, Lopes to "see a Gentile delegate from Utah," and thinks "the suggestion that a new election be ordered a good one." Considering that the "Gentile" ele ment is a mere drop in the Utah bucket, the wishes of the Xewt, which professes (o be a Republican paper, are certainly rather singular. The Xewt bop'es to see a Gentile delegate sent from Utah, while he admits that Capt. Hooper re oeived a majority of 20,000 votes. On Republican principles it is impossible fairly to elect a Gentile delegate in this Territory, and if he were to obtain a seat by any of the processes known to political gamblers, he could not proper ly represent the people of Utah. A Gentilo delegate could not be sent from Utah except by the grossest fraud and Are these what the JVeirt injustice. wishes to see prevail in Utah elections? What tub "Hkhald" TELEGRAPHIC.
