Two area winners in taxidermy art show Winners have been announced the second annual Utah Show Art Taxidermy Competition and Seminar at BYU's Bean Life Science Museum. About 240 mounted animals were entered in the contest by 130 amateur and professional taxidermists. Anita Norton of Bountiful won the overall Best of Show award for her mount of two whitetail deer fawns, which also won best of the mammal group category. Awards were given for the best in each of eleven other categories. In the bird category, Merlin Anderson of Sandy won best mount for a pheasant. Skip Skidmore of Springville, show director and taxidermist at the museum, won best mount in the bird group category for his pair of ducks. Scott Bailey of Salt Lake City won best mount in the fish skin category with his mount of a brown trout skin. In the fish skin group category, a mount of several brown trout by Bruce for Moss of Tremonton won best mount. Moss also won best mount in the mixed group category for his display of an otter and a brown trout. Brent Housekeeper of West Jordan won best mount in the large mammal category for a His coyote. fiberglass reproduction of a dogtail shark won best mount in the fish reproduction category. In the fish reproduction group category, the mount of two lake trout chasing some cisco fish, done by Jay Nielson of Murray, won best mount. A mule deer head by Sam Rayby of Price was judged best in the game head category. A badger by Jean Roll of Perry, Mich., won best mount in the small mammal category. In the final category reptile and amphibian Larry Donaldson of Ogden won best mount for a Pacific rattlesnake.
