Charles Ross, champion wrestler of language that should not have been alUtah, defeated Frank S. Lewis, champion of the world, at the Grand theater last night, winning two out of three falls. Lewis took the first fall in fourteen minutes, while Ross got the second in four minutes, and the third in eleven min-itesThe men met at catch weights with no holds barred. Lewis seemed a few pounds heavier than the local wrestler, hut the latter was. in the best form and his superior endurance proved the undoing of Lewis. Lewis went at Ross fiercely at the start, and the crowd thought the local man had met his master. Ross, however, fought back at his antagonist and several times had Lewis in his viselike grasp, but the Baker City man managed to slip through. After fourteen minutes of hard tussILig Lewi:' secured a half Nelson and leg hold, which put Ross to the mat. Ross took the from the start in the second, aggressive and surprised everybody by putting Lewis down in four mJnutes. Ross accomplished this with a strange hold. This round proved such a surprise to the spectators that some of them thought it was fixed, but the next fall demonstrated that the match was decided upon its merits. Both men fought as they faced each other for desperately the last round, and not until eleven minutes had been consumed did Ross succeed in getting the hold which pinned his man to the mat. Lewis made a speech before the cur-tai- n denouncing Eugene Thompson with HEAL ESTATE. TOR SALE N i ; Nr. v.- - T !tir.Vtt, ai AJ C;e I cash nroisTrr rn ::vit capic, nafr. i-- d. f , tf" I J 1 I ' f |
