Ski jumping is very traditional, so you don’t normally get that very much.” Sitting less than a year away from the 2018 Winter Olympics, Hendrickson knows there’s work left to be done. This next year, she hopes to get her knee right so that she can be the jumper she knows she can be by the time the Olympics roll around. For now, her simple plan is to get some rest so she can get back to flying the way she knows how. “Next month, I just need to be pretty calm, pretty relaxed,” Hendrickson said. “When I start training again in May, [I need to] be re-motivated and ready for the next 10 brutal months ahead.” “Flying is priceless. There’s not really any words to describe that amazing feeling.” Continued from B-2 800-meter run. “[Laurence] had a good year last year, but he got sick at the end of the year,” Cuttitta said. “He didn’t make it to state in any of the individual events, even though he had a good year. He’s been healthy [this year] and training well. He’s been kind of leading our sprint crew this year.” By the time the season ends, the Miners could be led by a whole new group of kids. For now, though, Cuttitta knows what he has in some of his athletes, such as Carr and Alford, and is excited to see what he can get from the unknown. The Miners start their season on March 15 with a dual meet at Union High School. The meet is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. Continued from B-3 Nicholas admits he isn’t sure who in the region graduated and who is returning, but he’s excited for the opportunity to take on Grantsville in the first match of the season on Tuesday. “They were definitely a pretty good team last year, pretty deep,” Nicholas said. “It’ll be nice to play them first. Kind of right away, we’re going to be able to sniff out the competition.” While winning another Region 10 title would be great, the Miners hope their experi- ence on the court propels them to a state championship. “I absolutely really like our chances,” Nicholas said. “I think that match toughness really comes out in tournament play. When you’ve got to play two or three matches in a day, our kids are frankly quite used to that. That was definitely encouraging to see last year and I think it’s something we’re going to see this year.” The Miners will travel to Grantsville on Tuesday for the season opener. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. Snowbasin will offer season pass for price of $399 (655-0999) Boys Tennis Park City @ Grantsville No. Summit @ Layton Christian Speedskating Resort joins Mountain Collective 8 – 10 p.m. To include an upcoming sports event in the calendar, please send an email to Joe Lair at scoreboard@parkrecord.com.
