Davis is one of many women who have taken up archery hunting. Davis always loved hunting with a rifle but fhebought her first bow tag this year and hopes to bring home a big buck. Paysen's Diane Davis draws back rapidly changing more and more women are finding that growing a goatee is not a prerequisite to purchasing a bow tag. Payson's Diane Davis is one of those women ready to take on the challenge. She plans to be a part of the archery hunt in the 2004 season. Davis is no stranger to hunting, but she hadn't tried her hand at bowhunting until this year. Davis recently shot her finish at ' way to a second-plac-e an archery rendezvous competition near Heber. "I was raised in a family that enjoyed hunting," Davis said. "I've got two brothers and a father that love to hunt. I've actually been involved with hunting since I was very young, but I think that because I'm a female, I hesitated to actually carry a weapon myself. I think that even today, many women feel a bit put of place and most of the time just go along for the trip." Davis said she became interested in shooting a bow after watching her husband, Burke, archery hunt each year. "I've really wanted to shoot for several years, but every time I tried Burke's bow, I was just not able to pull the bow back," Davis said. "We finally decided that if I was going to be able to go bowhunting, we ' would just have to go and buy me something more my size, my own bow." That was a year ago, and according to Burke Davis, Diane is quickly making her mark in the archery world. "I don't like to shoot with her.
