John Jones, 80 years of age, one of the oldest residents of Spanish Fork, died yesterday at bis home in this city of kidney trouble after an illness of eight days. He was born at Swansea, Wales, and came, to the United States In. 1856, locating at Spanish Fork. In October, 1866, he was married to Minnie Dahle, who died six weeks ago. Mr. Jones was engaged In agriculture, stock raising and mercantile lines, and was one of the largest property owners in Utah county and one of the largest property owners in Spanish Fork. He owned stock in the Utah Stockgrowers' association, the Provo Commercial bank, the Spanish Fork National oank, the Spanish Fork Milling company and the Spanish Fork Cooperative institute, being the largconest owner in the cern. He was superintendent of the company for forty years. He was president of the First National bank and also president of the Spanish Fork Cooperative institute at the time of his death. He was mayor of Spanish Fork three times, member of the city codicil twice, and county selectman twice.
