Scofield is just as quiet and peaceful as a tourist camp m any ot our canyons. The boys will have no need this year of their annual summer trip to Aspen Grove or Wildwood. They are having their outing now. When It comes to beautiful and inspiring scenery It is even doubtful if a better place could be selected than Scofield. There will be no shooting or fighting here. It Is the concensus of opinion among the military authorities and the local population, both American and foreign, that no trouble at all will be encountered. The great majority ci the citi zens here are and will- ing to cooperate in every way with the military, and the mere presence ot the national guard Is enough to check the activities of one or two radicals that may be here. That the people are trusting the officers and have faith fat their promise of a square deal is evi denced by thej way in which they responded to the call of (Major Hamilton Gardner to turn In all weapons they may have In their possession. Fifteen minutes after the formal demand had been made on citizens and foreigners to give up all arms and ammunition, they began to come in in rapid order. Not only have all parties understand the that all actions of the troops may thai an actoins of the troops may be fully understood by all. He also requested that the various interests .coopera-tin every possible way to have all orders strictly LEAVEFORSCOFIELD The second detachment of C bat- -' tery left Provo for Scofield Saturday morning, arriving in the coal field that afternoon. The following men were in the detachment: Verne Loveless. Cecil Downs, Wendell Leland Saxey, Cox, Eph Evans, Richard andf Eugene Beesley. Sunday the third detachment re ceived orders to take the 9:27 train this morning for Scofield, but when the battery men arri ed at the armory they were told that the order had been countermanded. They were told to hold themselves in readiness to entrain this after-rioo- n or Tuesday morning. At noon today it was believed at the armory that this detachment would leave 'at 9:2? Tuesday morning, and would go directly to Scofield where jthey would go on guard duty with the members of the battery already there. The following members" of the battery are now awaiting orders to entrain for Carbon county: Edgar Booth, L. Fuller, Frank ; Roper, LeVerl Boulton, Marion Pat- ten, Bert Harper, Floyd Baum and William J. Keith. COUNCIL MEETS THURSDAY The new president of the Worn obeyed. en's council, Mrs. J. W.
