"'Fanny' is an interesting and study," absorbing psychological ays Miss Scott, "but I am not altogether In sympathy with her as a woman, although as a character to portray for the screen she is absolutely fascinating." "She believes in making others happy even at her own expense." "1 do not believe it is possible to make others happy except by being happy yourself first." " 'Fanny' takes the responsibility of others on her shoulders and neglects tita opportunity of Improving herself." "I believe a woman's first duty is to herself." "Her self nacrificing attitude en courages others to become dependent, and while it develops her character, it dot's so at the expense of others." "Fanny, unconsciously like many others, assumex , the reformer's attitude she is not content with people as they are, she would have tbem better than they can be." This popular star of the screen, whose every release brings new admirers, has a role that excels anything in which he has previously appeared. He is supported by a strong case of well known players including Elinor Fair. The picture was produced under the direction of David Smith, whose name stands for photoplays of quality, magnitude and realism. It is a visualization of a popular magazine story that was read by many fiction lovers. It is entitled "IT CAN BE DONE" A Photoplay of Suspense, Surprises and Human Emotions Strong Love Interest MUTT AND JEFF Full of Action. Also CARTOON and FOX NEWS A-l-- tf H. M. AYERS WELDING CO. Saturday, believes in atmosphere. If he is playing the role of a detec-- ; tive he always tries to act the part in real life and it Is not uncommon for him to solve one or two mys teries before making a picture. In "It Can Be Done," Mr. Williams has the role of a novelist, a writer of best sellers. The star has not written a short story since his school days in California, and in order to get in prac tice he started writing a few before he commenced to make the picture. He got so enthused over the part that while filming the scenes which showed him at work writing the story which he was later to enact before the camera he forgot himself entirely and commenced writ ing a narrative, the like' of which has never been written before. What he wrote has been seen only by himself, for after reading it he decided not to submit it to any magazine for publication, and refuses to show it to any of his friends or acquaintances. All he will say is: "The like has never Been written before, and will never, be written again. After reading my masterpiece I decided that I would rather remain a picture player than become an author of the day's best seller. I shall never write a great American novel." The heroine is a typical Parisian debutante, addicted to most of the petty "bad habits' of the class with which she associates, but is in no way the hard hearted vamp that Parisian girls are often represented as being. Basil Hammond, a jviog American who sees life within good leather bindings or under microscopes, goes to Paris to study a few dead theories and dusty fossils. But his guardian in America, who is the grandmothe r of the Parisian heroine, Liane, instructs him to observe the girl's manner and see if being given the benefit of correct training. He reports: "She smokes, drinks, flirts and dances." But he is no, capable of watching Liane and then simply writing notations about her in a notebook for her grandmother. He begins t ofeej the spell of her eyes, with their French accent. His' stiff back gets somewhat wobbly and his heart quite un professorial. With a foreign count in the background, datermined to marry Liane if he can get rid of his former love, a Parisian chorus queen, the plot thickens for Prof. Hammond. Louise Winters wrote the story for Mis Prevost's use. Doris Schroeder prepared the Scenario and Gennre Cox directed, with William Fildew at the camera. t.
