Reports about the streets yesterday said that Jones would not play with the provo team, after having carefully established a residence here so that he might play. These reports were Investigated by The Herald reporter. "Yes, I turned in a 15 day notice," Jones said this noon, when questioned by the; reporter. "I turned It in to Manager Dell Webb right after the game with Heber." Jones did not pitch in that day, claiming that as he had already worked five Innings that week his arm would not permit more work. Provo lost the game. notice In my ''I have a contract with the Provo team' Jones said. "I can quit, and will unless the Provo (Hub pays me more money than the contract calls for." President Ray Tlmmerman of the , Provo Athletic club, today said that the ciuo wouia not pay jonea more than his contract called for, but he insisted that it would be up to the board of directors for final decision. It was thought Improbable that Jones would pitch in the opening game, unless he reconsiders his jumping notice. This is not the first time Jones has Jumped. That is why he is out of organized baseball today. He has applied for admission to organized baseball again, he said. But it is hardly probable that he will be readmitted if he jumps this contract after having accepted board and lodging on the strength of his baseball playing promises. It Is probable that the Provo Athletic associaion will take up witli the president and secretary of the minor leagues this latest threatened jump of Jonea and protest against his readroission to organiezd baseball. Jones says that he has offers from Ogden and Green Bay, Win., and may go to either of these cities this summer. First v. Fifth. Third vs. Manavu. Second vs. Fifth. Fourth vs. (Manavu. Fourth va.
