Show Sandy MRS. STRICTLY BUSINESS JappenincjA Bruce Hansen, 11, son of Mr & Mrs Francis L. Hansen of Sandy is reported to be improving at Holy Cross hospital, suffering from injuries received Saturday at 5:40 p.m. In an accident which claimed the lives of his pony "Queen" and little dog "Towser". Bruce suffered a double fracture of the left leg when the pony he was riding, and an automobile collided at 9300 So. State St. Bruce of course, is a little said over the loss of his prized pony and pet dog, and probably dosen't fully realize what a lucky boy he is to be alive following the accident. AFFAIR TO AID BUILDING FUND For the purpose of raising money for the Sandy First ward building fund, the Relief Society will hold a sale, Saturday, Dec. from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at "Sandy First ward chapel, it has been announced by Mrs Ebba president of the ward Relief Society. Various articles suitable for Christmas gifts will be aold, as well as refreshments. A program will be presented at 7:30 p.m. The general public is invited to participate. li Fin-layso- NAME CONTEST PUBLICATION EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 22 Due to the fact the box the names submitted as sug gestion for Sandy First ward monthly newspaper, was destroyed, the time limit has been extended from Nov. 22, to Dec. 22, it has been announced by Myron J. Stewart, editor in charge. All members of the ward may submit a name and first, second and third prizes will be awarded for the names chosen. Entries may be placed in the box at the church or mailed to Myron J. Stewart, P.O. Box 261, Sandy, Ut The first issue of the paper which is delivered the first Sunday of each month to all ward members and service men and missionaries was put out Nov. 1. MR. POTTLEBY personals . . .Clifford L Maynard. 8140 S. 7th &, Sandy, was the winner of the cash award offered by Wayne's Frozen Food Locker, for the largest deer killed locally during the recent season. Mr Maynard shot a buck with a 29 H inch antler spread. The deer had six point on one side and four on the 218-poun- d tther. Mr & Mrs Dallas Draper and mall daughter DeLauna of River-to- n attended the 50th wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr & Mrs Arthur Draper, held recently at Cenola, Utah. Mrs Marjorie Boynton returned Sunday after spending the Thanks-givinholiday with her husband, g g fejjl . Charles Boynton, EM3C, who is stationed at Alameda, Calif. He enlisted in the navy in Jan., 1951, and has just completed his 20th Don Hardcastle, BM3C is here on a leave visiting with his parents, Mr & Mrs Glen A Hardcastle. He has spent the past 20 months at Newfoundland, and will report to his new assignment at Boston, Mass. He enlisted in the navy in January, 1951. Elbert R Curtis, general superintendent of the Church YMMIA, was guests speaker at Sandy Second ward Sunday evening, with Bishop Clarence P Hansen in charge. Vocal selections were by Mary Alice Crapo, accompanied by her father, J Clement Crapo, at the piano. Mrs Clyde Swenson is spending a few days with Mr & Mrs Kenneth Jensen at Draper. Mrs Jensen is the former Grace Swenson, and was taken to a Salt Lake hospital Monday suffering from an illness. Mr & Mrs James B Ostler have returned to Mountain Home, Ida., after spending the Thanksgiving week-enwith their parents, Mr & Mrs J T Ostler in Sandy, and Mr & Mrs Edward Green in Grantsville. They were Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mr & Mrs Gene L Jones at Wendover. James is stationed with the Air Force at Mountain Home Base; Mrs Elsie Clement and daughter LaNila, of Las Vegas, Nev., left Sunday for their home after spending a week with her father, Wil liam E Attwood, who observed his 80th birthday Nov. 23. They also visited with her sister, Mrs Wil liam O Jones, and family, and with relatives and friends in Holladay and Salt Lake. Mr St Mrs Edward Lloyd of Riverton were visitors later in the evening. Leon Morrow, son of Mr & Mrs George Morrow, and Charles Ash-forof Sandy, are among those who have joined the Army Reserve recently. Dr Clel Jensen and wife Jean presented pictures of Japan as a feature of Sandy Second ward Spe cial Interest group last week. Dr. Jensen returned a few months ago after spending two years in Japan with the army medical corps. He was employed at the U. S. Smelter in Midvale for a number of years, and later was employed by Sandy City. He is survived by hi3 widow, and the following sons and daugh- trip to Japan.
