WALL ENAMEL If DECORATING 120 Vino Street AM Around horse shows, parades, equine and exhibitions in the Salt Lake valley, the name of "Joyce Atwood" and the words "trick riding" are fast becoming synonymous. old daughJoyce is the ter of Mr. and Mis. Glen Atwood, 21 West Gordon Avenue, Murray. For the past five years she has been appearing in virtually every horse show and exhibition staged in the valley. When tie Ute Rangers open their annual on June 15th and 16th at the Salt Lake county fairgrounds Joyce will be appearing with them for the fifth straight year. Horsemanship and trick riding come quite naturally to the perky brunette. Her father has been training horses for many years. He has imparted some of the knowledge and knack of it to his daughter who trains her own horses under his supervision. At the present time Joyce is riding her third horse which comes rightly by the name of Flag because of blue eyes, red ears and all white body. Joyce started riding at the age of seven, when the family lived near Kingman, Ariz. While still living in Arizona she started her appearances. She considers herself fortunate never to have had an accident or a slip of a trick. The only injury she has ever had to contend with happened when her horse was hurt on the last performance of a show. When asked what trick she Sho-de-- o l.kes best, Joyce was quick to answer with "the hippodrome." Going on to explain just what It entails, she said it is a stance on top of the saddle, straight up with both arms reaching in the air while the horse continues running. To add variety, Joyce carries flags in both hands. Her parents have named this the "Liberty Stance." Although she will be a 10th grader at Granite high school in the coming year, Joyce would like to "go professional" with her trick riding. Because of the amount of traveling it would involve, she's having trouble selling the idea to her parents. When not working with her horse and practicing tricks, Joyce enjoys playing the accordion. She has also taken up leather tooling. She's handy with a needle, and " Hf Has a full 16 sq. ft. Snap flap holds cot Attractive Firestone Velon covering Easy to clean, won't fade . . .
