Then the Sacred Rites continue until Just as the moon comes over the land and sea the girl is carried on a blanket held by twelve beautiful maidens, who carry her into the center of the circles of bonfires, stopping a little to the left of the Chief, while in rides the boy, mounted upon a beautiful white horse, when he comes before the Chief, he leaps from his mount and kneels be fore his royalty, the Chief, when he has laid his hand upon the head of the boy he arises and goes at once to the girls side. She lays as one dead. He takes her hands and kisses them, then slowly he raises her up Into his arms and carries her liefore the Chief. They are then married by God, or the Great Spirit, and word of the Chief nnd the two youths. Five days follow in great cere monies, then for one year, they are forced to go alone into the forests and not return until they have become wise and strong.
