We feel gratified at the results already achieved, with pleasure we can ride through the streets :md sec the work of cleaning up already accomplished. We feel that the schools are ac-- i oinplishiiig much good and are due considerable credit. The Better Homes and l 'leu ii t'p committees and committees are working with all their might, for the sneetsss of the camNinety-fivper cent of the paign. citizens are cheerfully cleaning, painting, iind are recognizing by effort the results of th campaign. About five per cent of the cltlzcus are so far falling to la'tter the conditions of their homes, vacant lots, and store fronts. Some of the very worst conditions In Murray City have not yet taken care of. Right now, more iljiu any other lime of the year, every ugly vacant lot Is being watched by the public, and ashes, wwnls, tree lmbs. old hoards, brush, waste, old sheds, broken fences, and filth, on any one's lot, causes well foiuidcd criticism on the part of those who have made every effort in trying to make nir city more ihcuutlful. I wish to state once more that some if the business places, as one approached tlie business district from the south, are both unsightly and ugly so as to produce a very bad impression, anil think of the hundreds of chiHi children and high school students, whom we are attempting to Imbue with high Ideals, who have to pass those unsightly, ugly, unpntnted, and dirty places on their way to school. We are pleased with the work that Is done and hoie that all the persons owning vacant lots or places of will do their part untidy in this campaign. Let's help to make our street the most beautiful in the city. The effort thus put forth will pay the greatest dividends. p e la-e- apiK-aranc- t. f. Mcdonald. FACTS COUNT, FACTS SPEAK. Trie fact is that we are indifferent and disloyal MURRAY. to our great home town Traveling through different cities, north and south; speaking to the people of those cities, we find that none have any good word of encouragement for you and me. It is natural for us, as human beings, to find fault with others, but it is unnatural for all of us to make the kitchen our steady living room, overlooking the fact that the living room is the real place to live. Our living room is our home town and we must not make it the kitchen or back porch. We must think, act and prove to our neighbor towns to the north and south that we are alive. That Murray to us is what Ogden and Provo are to the residents of those cities. Tlie merchants and citizens of Ogden and Provo work together for the general goodof those cities, or the cities would die. Shall we work together or shall we continue to be indifferent and neglect our town? What value would your property and your homes be without the merchants of Murray? How can these merchants grow without your cooperation? HOW? ANSWER What can the citizens of Murray look for in the future if the town is not united and each assisting in the growth and improvement of the , community? Yes, we must be united and see that the street called State, is paved, that we have the poles of the power lines moved back and i white-wa- y installed. This is our slogan: Murray Citizens Think 1 "Murray". When shall we get going? Let's Start Now! |
