Show SPORTS .Nov. r til t . 8, 1991 The Hill Strikers clinched second place in the Utah North Soccer Association's fall season by defeating a Clearfield Job Corps team On a blustery day, neither team could put any offense together in the first half. In the second half, the snow melted and Hill's offense warmed up just enough to pull out the game. Late in the contest, center forward Rob Kunce blasted the ball off the Job Corps goalie on a free kick. That lone goal provided the Strikers w ith their final margin of victory. Kunce later maneuvered and took another shot on goal, but the ball careened off the goal post and back into play. With just a few minutes remaining in the game fullback Dan Garrett stopped an open-ne- t shot and preserved -- d 1-- 0. Striker Scott Bullard (center) blocks opponent's kick. Goalie Will Mejia earned his third shutout of the season. Kent Furman and Kent Ubeda joined Garrett in tremendous game-lonefforts for the Strikers, said coach Ray Uris. The Strikers, finished the season in second two place, just points behind champion Azteca. Hill travels to Nellis AFB, Nev., to play in a three-day- . military tournament.
