Hill AFB enlisted members, in grades senior master sergeant and below, can now see via a computer located in the Consolidated Base Personnel Office's customer service section where job openings will occur overseas in their career fields over the next few months. Hill is one of eight test bases for the new system called the Enlisted Quarterly Assignment Listing system, or EQUAL. Other test sites are: Grand Forks AFB, N.D.; Lajes Field, Azores; Osan AB, Korea; Peterson AFB, Colo.; RAF Lakenheath, England; Randolph AFB, Texas; and Shaw AFB, S.C. EQUAL is scheduled for worldwide implementation in January. Chief master sergeants must still communicate with the Chiefs' Group at the Air Force Military Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, Texas, for their assignments. Once members see this, they are better armed to fill out an Air Force Form 392, Airman Assignment Preference Statement, more commonly called a dream sheet, said Ron Haggerty, chief of CBPO's outbound assignments section. "Assignments are still based on Air Force needs," Haggerty said. "But now, you at least know where the requirements are." Haggerty said a new listing will come out quarterly in November, February, May and August and members will have approximately four weeks to review the job listings. This listing also tells members when AFMPC will of assignments cut off to do that quarter's match-uwith members. This assignment match has been a standard procedure at AFMPC, but in the past members never knew where the job opening would be, only what bases used their skills, Haggerty said. The AFMPC match-udate on the system now is Nov. 29. The new assignments will be released p p Officers, rated and mission support, have had a similar listing available since earlier this year. Medical, legal and chaplain officers are the only ones not supported by this system. The EQUAL listing available now for view in Room 108 at CBPO shows, by Air Force Speciality ff assignment. " " a I Dec. 6. Haggerty recommends members get their new dream sheets, if needed, to customer service by Nov. 18 to meet AFMPC's Nov. 29 match-udate. AFMPC used to dole out assignments every other p personnel utilization at CBPO. Haggerty cautions that if a member's dream sheet currently shows his preferences, there's no need to rush and fill out a new form. "If they have valid preferences listed now, they'll be considered without updating the 392," he said. "This test doesn't give any preference for assignment consideration." Haggerty's outbound assignments section handles approximately 75 departures a month out of Hill. He estimates 90 percent of those have been volunteers for their new assignments. EQUAL will just enhance this, he said. "EQUAL doesn't guarantee anything," Haggerty said. "It just lets everyone know where the requirements are as opposed to guessing where they are." The assignments currently listed on EQUAL have reporting dates in May through September of 1992. "The purpose of putting the extra month into the whole system is so the people at AFMPC can take a closer look at matching people's desires with Air Force needs," said Capt.
