Joseph of American ciety Military Engineers, will address local members of the society and their interested guests Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Hill AFH Officers' Club. Martin Luther King Jr. Day set A Martin Luther King Jr. Dav observance will be held Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Hill AFH Chapel. The guest speaker will be Rev. France Davis, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Salt Lake City. An interpreter for the hearing impaired will be provided. According to event organizers, the purpose of the observance is to commemorate the life and deeds of a great American. In America, during the '50s and '60s, one of the important crises the nation faced was racial discrimination. The man whose words and deeds in that crisis stirred our nation to the very depths of its soul was Martin Luther King Jr., organizers said. Dr. King made equality of rights his life's work. Often, he was beaten and imprisoned, but he never stopped teaching nonviolence. In 1964, Dr. King became the youngest man to win the Nobel Peace Prize, they said. Interested Air Force members with the rank of staff sergeant through master sergeant, who have recruit-the-recruite- more than two years on station and less than 16 years of total active duty service, may be eligible to become a recruiter. These positions and many others are open due to expansion in squadron size, said an Air National Guard spokesman. Guard members have served or are currently serving in Korea, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, as well as other locations throughout the world. There are certain eligibility requirements those interested in joining must meet. A person must pass a mental and physical exam, meet height and weight standards and have no record of police involvement.
