Photo by Cindy Burton become the Little London Dinner theater to open in Pleasant Grove Little By Ondy Burton On July 8 a dinner theater will open in downtown Pleasant Grove. "This is the only one in Utah County," shares executive producer, Jason Boren. "I know of two other dinner theaters; one in Salt Lake and one in Logan." Formerly known as the Alhambra, the Little London Theater will bring back the glory of the old theater and then some, when it opens its doors to patrons. Extensive restoration is currently underway inside and outside of the building. "She's completely redone the front lobby" Boren says of owner Suzanne Kirby. "No one will rec- the place." ognize Kirby also hired a specialist in theater and restaurant planning. "He goes all over the country setting up theaters and restaurants," Kirby said. "Kind of a theatrical engineer." The seating arrangements and even the tables are specially designed to accommodate both meals and theater viewing. The first production is called 'Music of the Night'," shared Boren. "It's a Broadway medley." "Music of the Night" features music from "The Phantom of the Opera," "Sunset Boulevard," and the "Evita," "Joseph Technicolor Amazing Dreamcoat," and "Cats" among others. "This show we've got now is just top to bottom quality," explained Boren. Tm so pleased with the quality of actors that atmosphere for everyone," he explained. "We want people to know that they can walk in here in formals or in shorts, and feel comfortable." Tickets will be $21.50 per person and will include a choice of two entrees, dessert and the theater production. With the doors opening at 6 p.m, dinner is served shortly thereafter. The show begins at 7 p.m., once all of the patrons have been served. "The show will actually be running as you eat," Boren explained. At intermission, the dishes are cleared away and dessert is served. The show then resumes. As ambitious as this project sounds, there is even more to it. "We're going to offer wedding breakfasts and business luncheons," said Kirby who has run a catering business for years. "And we eventually want to try a children's theater on ., Monday nights," she continued. , ; There are plans t9 have a hypnotist on other evenings.
