The Lehi Fire Department is known not only for saving lives and property, but now also for saving Lehi taxpayers money. Under the direction Fire Marshall Dale Ekins and committee members Jim Smith, Mac Powell, Peck, Steve Roger Schaonover and Gary Smith, the department was able to appropriate a surplus tanker truck from Hill Air Force Base at no cost to purchase the vehicle. The $30,000 cost to refurbish the tanker to make it usable for the Lehi Fire Department is small compared to the $150,000 to 180,000 it would cost to purchase a new vehicle with the same equipment and capabilities. The truck originally included a 5,000 gallon tank; Nationwide Trailers of Lehi had to shorten the length of the tank and reduce it to ir.r. i" V 'ft' : - j Safe mm-- BEFORE: The Lehi City Fire Department obtained this truck from surplus at no charge to the city. 3,000 gallons to make the truck more maneuverable in city use. The tank also had to be completely purged of the jet fuel it once held. Other renovations included specialized equipment, the addition of lights and sirens, and painting. Ekins said that the low mileage and the automatic transmission make the expenditures even more attractive. The vehicle has the potential for use at fires on forest service Bureau of Land and Management lands; if used in such stand-b- y the Lehi Fire incidents, Department will be compensated for their efforts, as they were during the fires on West Lake Mountain that added approximately $10,000 to the fire department's coffers. truck are, L to R: Dale Ekins, Rick Houghton, Steve AFTER: Showing the remodeled Houghton and Brett Durffee LHS athletics to sponsor Hello Dance 240 South 740 East, American Fork, Utah (Next to the new Deseret Industnes) 756-532- 0 All Lehi High School students are invited to start the school year with a "Hello Dance" on Friday, Aug. 22 The dance will be held in the Commons Area from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Cost for the event will be $2 with proof of activity card purchase and $3 without. However, with every benefit comes a "price to be paid." In order to provide quality entertainment at reasonable prices, the Arts Council needs to rely upon the numerous grants available to small communities, as well as generous donations from individuals and businesses. According to Ray L. Carter, development director for the Arts Council, the council is looking for citizens with prior experience in fundraising of grants writing to' assist in obtaining funding for projects from larger organizations. Fundraisers are especially needed in anticipation of the building of a new recreationartssenior citizen center that has been proposed for Lehi. "We want this new civic center to be a 'community center,'" said Carter. "It is everyone's responsibility to participate. The civic center will be enjoyed by all residents." Anyone interested in helping the Arts Council with this and other projects is invited to call Arts Council Carter at director Glen Smith, or the Lehi Arts Center, GE 113 S. 700 E., om cares for your car Ilka wo dot 1HC American Fork Hospital A Service of Intermountaia Health Care NORTH VALLEY EDUCATION CENTER CALL $ Mns No MM IH PP PP SS SS LH HH HH CR HRS CLASS START END TIME TIME DAYS 3.00 2.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 2 00 2.00 3 00 3.00 4.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 .50 3.00 3.00 3 00 3.00 3.00 3.00 5.00 3.00 3.00 BUILDING 1 CRS FEES INSTRUCTOR ROOM SPECIAL NOTES TR 09:30AM-10:45A- NV TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO TR O1:00PM-01:5OP- NV TBA CRANDALL R INTERACTIVE VIDEO MWF 09:OOAM-09:50A- NV TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO T 06:OOPM-08:30P- NV TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO MWF 11:O0AM-- 1 NV VIDEO 07:OOPM-09:40P- NV STAFF SOWBY L INTERACTIVE W TBA TBA MWF 02:30PM-03:20P- NV TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO R O7:00PM-09:4OP- NV TBA STAFF W 07:O0PM-09:40P- NV TBA STAFF MWF 07:00AM-O7:50A- NV STAFF 07:00AM-07:50A- NV STAFF INTERACTIVE INTERACTIVE VIDEO TR TBA TBA W 07:00PM-09.O0P- NV TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO TR 10.00AM-11:15A- NV TBA STAFF MWF 08:OOAM-08:50A- NV TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO MTRF 09:O0AM-09:5OA- NV TBA STAFF MWF O9:00AM-09:5OA11:O0AM-11:5OA- SMITH N SMITH N 01:OOPM-01:50P- NV NV NV NV TBA MWF MWF MWF TBA STAFF INTERACTIVE VIDEO MWF 12 TBA STAFF M 06 NV NV TBA ROBINSON R O6:00PM-O8:30P- NV BIRCH B INTERACTIVE VIDEO INTERACTIVE VIDEO INTERACTIVE VIDEO INTERACTIVE VIDEO 1:50AM . 10:00AM-10:5OA- 00PM-0- 8 40PM TBA TBA TR TR TR 10:00AM-10:50A- NV TBA TBA 02:30PM-03:45P- NV TBA 08:00AM-09:15A- NV TBA R 07:00PM-09:40P- NV TBA TR 07:O0PM-O9:4OP- MWF 11:0OAM-- 1 TR 11:00AM-12:15P- 1:50AM '.
