Here is a guide to some of the new terms that may be found in articles about actions taken at city meetings: Area Plan: All developments over 10 acres must have an Area Plan, which shows an overview of an entire development, not just segments that are being developed individually. PRD: A Planned Residential Development with a minimum of 10 acres, the PRD must include 20 percent open space. Developers may cluster housing to leave the required open space and possibly be authorized to have smaller lot sizes than normal; the plan may also save developers money on infrastructure costs. 4- DEERFIELD Photo by Russ Daly Steve Romney of Wallace Associates, explains about the 2,700 acre Deerfield project to members of the Lehi City Council as the company looks toward starting the development d near the interchange on property west of the Micron plant. He said that they would request approval on the residential portion of the development, namely about 4,000 units, in his words. "We need to have some guarantee of capacity in the sewer lines and in the plant," Romney told the council. He said that they would not be asking for water because the area is already annexed into the Salt Lake Water Conservancy District. He also suggested that "it would facilitate progress if the city coun 0 cil would designate a representative who is empowered to make negotiations." "As I look at this, there are a lot of issues that need to be looked at," said Councilmember Frances Comer. "I dont see any way in creation all these issues are going to be resolved by Jan. 17 (the date which marks 120 days from the time the developer makes an initial request)." Other questions raised by various councilmembers included issues of percentage or buildable area, aesthetic design and specific order of development. "It's an ambitious project, and yet the potential is there," said Romney. "I want to be able to go by the property in 20 years and tell my grandchildren 'I had something to do with that.'" It's been wonderful to learn from them, to laugh and cry with them," she said. "I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I've had, the things I've learned and the people I've associated with." She said that she looks forward to the time when the seniors can move into a larger facility that can meet a greater number of needs, while maintaining the feeling of family and everyone being wel- she said. "We're outgrowing our space here. There are some things we have not been able to do." Her own goals now include spending more time with her family, which includes eight children and 25 grandchildren.
