When Jerry and Annette Harris heard of a woman who was selling pizza equipment from her restau- rant, they ventured into the pizza ; business. Liking the look of the single I large "P" that was used for the several alliterative words in the name ion the drug remedy, the Harrises ! searched for their own combination ;of words that could become an ; effective marketing tool. I Choosing purple in support of 'the high school colors, and pizza for their product, they needed only to Sfind the remaining part of their years of pizza 15 l children, learned the tricks of the trade as they learned their own responsibilities. S Annette remembers cooking her own pizza sauce in a little pan on the kitchen stove. Now she makes it in five gallon buckets. The children started out folding boxes, then learned how to really work, dividing their time between home and business. All of the Harris children have worked in the business, as well as about a dozen other employees through the years. "I think they've appreciated it as they've gotten older," said Annette. The pig became the advertiser of choice, and Laurelle Dalton came up with the porcine design that is still in use today. Palace included both pizza and ice cream in the site that had been destined to become an antique store. Two years later, the store closed, but in 1980, the Harrises moved to their present State Street location under the name Purple Pig Pizza. Jerry and Annette, and their busi- ness throughout their 15 years. As a token of appreciation, Purple Pig Pizza will offer free drinks and birthday cake Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Fork Two local businessmen hope to bring p shopping" to the car care field with ; their new business in American Fork. Gary Johnson, Owner, and Dave Williamson, operations manager, have teamed up with the Quaker State line of automotive products at Auto Express Glass and Lube at 338 N. West State Rd. The business is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling 763-911They offer a full line oil and lubricating service, emissions and safety inspections, tune- ups and brake work, windshield repair and window tinting, and accessory sales and "one-sto- liij 1. installation. With 15 years' experience in the glass and auto accessories field, Johnson offers both same-daand mobile service on windshield repair or replacement, and is authorized to do all insurance work. e A mechanic, previously employed at Rick Warner for 22 years, is also available for light mechanical work. Their accessory line include bug shields, running boards, dash mats, car alarms and car stereos, and they can install alarms, stereos and cellular phones.
