State, Orem p. If k. Florence Sumner. Jack married Dona Clark Sept. 4, 1934 in Provo, Utah, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Provo and later moved to Orem. Dona Sumner died May 12, 1987 and Jack married Florence Nielson in 1991. He loved his family and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He was currently a High Priest. He held various positions of Ward Clerk, Sunday School President, teacher and High Priest Presidency. He loved hunting, fishing and was a booster of BYU athletics. He has been in the newspaper business his whole life, working for the Provo Daily Herald for 25 years and then purchasing the Times in 1953. In addition to his family and church, Jack was active in community affairs serving two terms as President of the Orem Chamber of Commerce, received the Provo Orem Chamber of Commerce Orem-Gene- va served on the Utah Press Association Board of Directors and served as President in 1963. Jack was selected in 1963 to represent Utah in a State of the Community meeting in Washington, D.C. with the late President John F. Kennedy. He was a member of the Lions Club, served as president, worked with the Boy Scouts of America, was a Booster of Orem and Mountain View High School Athletics and Academics, sponsored Sub for Santa Drive, headed a fund drive for lighting the softball fields, served on United Fund Board, Alpine School District Vocational Education Committee. He was the source of getting the U.S.ArmyFieldBandandSoldiers' Chorus to Orem, honored with the Orem Jaycee "Jack Sumner Day and in 1979 received the Master Editor Publisher Award from his peers of the Utah Press Association. He is survived by his wife, Florence Sumner, daughter, Sandi and Dick Speechly, Layton; sons, Jack and Karen Sumner, Sundance; Brent and Becky Sumner, Orem; sisters Maline Bandley and Mildred Henrichsen. She was born April 7, 1925 in Moroni, Utah, a daughter of James and Elenora Justesen. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all. She married Asa V. Draney and they were later divorced.
