She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1940 and attended Brigham Young University for several years. She traveled extensively with her husband while he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They made their home in Los Angeles, Chicago and various locations in the Martin Silas and Martha Jane Bowcutt Dean. She married Franklin K. Hazen, Sr., in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Nov. 1, 1917. She spent her younger years in Cokev-illWyo., and was one of the original employees of the first JC Penney Store in Cokeville. She was honored several years ago at BYU by the president of JC Penney Company. e, She resided in Salt Lake and in Cokeville until her husband World War I.
