I had just left a town where I had lived for 14 years which had lost its community. I retired last year after working as the director of a small college in Moab. I have been involved in education or business most Valley. I am aware of many of the pitfalls and stresses which can accompany change. I accept the reality that change is part of community life and that conflict needs to be managed positively and fairly. My abilities include computer skills, some conflict management training, familiarity with meeting processes, and patience. 5. I am interested in all of the activities of the POA and would narrow 6. I grew up in Vermont in a tradition—based community which was undergoing severe transitions into a tourist trade boom town. I learned the vocabulary of community-based civil planning around the picnic table. In my lifetime I have held several elected offices and responsible posi— tions, spent numerous years focussing on community service work, and worked, both abroad and locally, with socially and culturally diverse populations. Encouraging and managing direct participation by divergent parties to a project is familiar practice for me.
