Show SUMMER TIMES - JUNE 1993 . 3 — Fire Department Notes Two issues ago, I stated that we needed about twenty-five people to fully implement a good volunteer fire structural fire we need to: 1. Get our truck there as quickly as possible. 2. Have a person in charge. 3. Have a person to operate the suppression program for our fire pumps and keep a check on water protection district. Why so many? A volunteer department is exactly that. There is no one “on duty” and the fire must be controlled by those members who show up for an alarm. Considering that we all are often out of the area working, shopping, sightseeing, cycling, hiking, or any of the myriad things there are to do here, it seems reasonable to expect that out of twenty-five members we can expect about eight to be available for work at any time. Eight people familiar as serving as a rescue/backup unit for the first team. 8. The eighth person will be the messenger. We invite any of you who are interested in spending a few hours a month learning how to safely protect levels. , 4. Advance the main 2—1/2" hose to the fire area. 5. Move the foam injection our properties from fire to join us at our regular meetings at 7:30 pm. on the equipment to the fire area and connect to the 1-1/2" hose. Have a person at this We will also schedule learning sessions at your convenience. Just give me a call point to operate the injection pump and the valves on the “gated wye.” 6. Connect the 1-1/2" attack lines at 259—6049. —Floyd Stoughton, Fire Chief second and fourth Tuesday each month. to the gated wye and equip them with the selected nozzles. 7. Two teams of two people, properly protected, advance the attack with our attack procedure can quickly set up our equipment and extinguish a lines.
