Hailstones varying from the size of a marble to that of a hen's egg fell with a rentlentless barrage, stripping corn stalks, grain, and fruit trees. Car tops were even punctured by the impact of falling hailstones, and people on the streets were forced to run for cover. During the downpour Payson grew dark, almost as though night had fallen. OPEN FOR TRAFFIC Second West street running from the State Highway to Main Street, was opened to traffic, Saturday evening after workmen completed it. Work on the street has been going on for the past two weeks. The Mud Pie contest which has been held for children of Lehi under the direction of Miss Pauline Goates for the past two weeks came to an end last Thursday. The kiddies met at the school grounds and from there went to the creek to see who could make the most attractive mud pie. After final judgement was passed it was learned that Miss E'Loise Hansen had been pronounced the winner. Next week the kiddies will participate in. a picnic night- - They are to meet at the usual place and time to get instructions as to where the picnic will be held. As announced previously players have been grouped into four groups. A player qualifying in one group may enter the higher group but cannot enter the lower groups. It was previously announced that a graduated fee would be charged.
