NW near Scofield, Game Notes Reports that more bucks have been seen along the top of the mountain this year than, for several years past are made by forest visitors. These animals can usually be observed from about 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the tall larkspur and other vegetation that grows near the Skyline road. Fishermen at both Gooseberry and Bulger have been very successful during the past week. Excellent catches have been reported by numerous fishermen visiting that locality. Death Valley has it "Scotty." likewise East mountain has its "Frenchy." For many years Frenchy has prospected for gold on the East mountain. He spends practically all the summer on the mountain and cashes in in the fall and enjoys life as he chooses during the winter. Recently, while prospecting on the East mountain, he found where some lions had killed two deer. The deer were freshly killed and he thought it might be possible to rob the big cats of a part of their prey. They refused, however, to give up their prey even though Frenchy threw rocks at them. Finding them determined to stay with their kill he hurried to camp and got his trusty rifle. Returning he shot one of the three lions and the others made a hasty retreat. Following hLs recent experience Frenchy avers that hereafter he will carry his rifle with him. Range Notes On a recent inspection of the Clear Creek flats area it was found that a few cattle have gotten through the bars and gune oacK to their old haunts Due to drouth the receding projects are net too flattering It Is hop?d, however, that the recent rains will rejuvenate the young plants and that good results from our last year's will follow.
