Show THE LEADER. PORTAGE by Mrs. Virgil C. Harris PortageWA Holds Party, Elections; Raise Book Funds The P. T. A. held a very successful party and business meeting Friday evening at the school house. Refreshments were sold, the proceeds being used to buy a new set of encyclopedias. The following was rendered; Trumpet Clinton Harris and Denduet, ton John accompanied by Vance McCrary on the piano, jokes by Mrs. LaVern John, duet, Marva Jean Parkinson and Sheila Morris, comic reading, Mrs. DeMour John, tap dance, DeAnn Howell and ReNae John. Mrs. Glen Morris was elected president, Mrs LaVern John, vice president and Mrs. Reed Nielsen, secretary and treasurer. A vote of thanks was given the outgoing officers, Mrs. Nancy Clegg, president, Mrs. Glen Mor. ris, vice president and Mrs. Herald Jenkins, secretary and pro-gra- m treasurer, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Kerbs and family were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Knudsen. Members of the D. W. Morris family met Saturday at Basalt, Ida , at a housewarming party at the beautiful new home of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Morris. A buffet luncheon was served and the day was spent playing outdoor games and visiting. Among those present were: Mr, and Mrs. David Gibbs and family, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris and family, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Morris and family of Portage; Mr. and Mrs. T. A John and family of Cherry Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Lamb of Plymouth and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Merrill and family of Idaho and Mrs Lee Johnson and family of Ogden, Mr and Mrs. Joe Morgan and family and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hobson and family of Malad visited Sunday with Mrs. Margaret R Howell. Miss Beverly McCrary of Lay-to- n spent Mother's Day with her pcrents, Mr. and Mrs, Mil. on McCrary. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Howell and daughter, DeAnn visited Saturday in Tremonton with Mrs. Howell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George CookeMr. and Mrs. J. W. Ogan and family of Ogden were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. DeRoy Hawks. Mothers Program A special Mothers Day program was presented at Sunday School as outlined by the General board. A large crowd was in attendance, fcach mother was presented with a booklet. Mr. and Mrs. Afton Hoskins and sons of Clearfield visited Monday with Afton's parents, Mr and Mrs. Bert Hoskins. Silas Tracy of Clear Creek came Friday and took his neice, Mrs. George Hastings and family to his home where they spent the weekend. He brought them back Sunday. Mrs. Wendell Hall, Mrs. Vir. gil Harris, Mrs. Floyd Rose and Mrs. William D. Harris were among those who attended the Garland Literary Club meeting - Thursday. Dr. and Mrs." Max Conley of Tremonton were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Stevenson and daughter Debra of Logan were weekend guests of Mrs. Vera Hall. Mrs. Eliza Knudsen, who is in Ogden, spent a employed few days this week at her home here. Uudergoes Surgery Gary, six year old son of Mrs. Arvel Bell underwent at the Valley a tonsilectomy Clinic Thursday. Mrs. Elda Nelson of Brigham City, her son Bruce of the U. S. Naval Air Force, stationed at San Diego, Calif., and her daughter Beverly, a college student at U.S.A.C. spent Mothers Day with Mrs. Nelson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Parkinson and Mr-an- other relatives. Mrs Reed Nielsen went to Ogden Monday. to see Reed's sister, LaRue who is at the St. Benedict's Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Ward and family of Ogden, Ulalla Cornwall and daughter Mary and Con Hansen of Tremonton visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William D. Harris. Among those who attended the Golden Spike Celebration at Promontory Monday were Mr. andn Mrs. Wiliam L. Gibbs and son Sidney, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo E Hoskins and Mrs. Floyd Rose.
