Mildred Yardley was in charge of the program for the where she had evening Elizabeth Yardley give an interesting report on Scotland, where she grew up. A video was shown of the country and the people that was interesting and of Elizabeth's life there while growing up. The hostess served a lovely two course dinner to her guests. Poet Laureate, Dr. David Lee, To Perform At Beaver High School On Monday, April 16, 2001. David Lee, Utah Poet Laureate, is coming to the Beaver High School auditorium at 10:00 a.m.. Dave is known as the "Pig Poet" of Utah. He has appeared on television several times, and he has read his poetry all over the United States. He will read some of his poems for us as well as answer questions. We feel privileged to have him perform in our school. The public is welcome to attend. This is a program of the Utah Humanities Council hosted by the Beaver High School Englisli Utah The Department. Humanities Council promotes history and heritage, books and reading, and public discussion of issues important to our communities. Alumni Basketball Tournament This year's tournament will be held April 27th and 28th. It be an open tournament where you get your own team together (you can only have one J.C. or College player on the team). The first Eight Teams to enter and pay the $1 5 entrance fee will play. The Calvin Albrecht family from Minersville and the Pat 4 Roy Yardley family attended Sacrament Meeting Sunday in Hurricane with the Ryan Yardleys where their new baby girl was given a new name of Kaylee in Sacrament Meeting. A lovely luncheon was served to 'all the guests at their home. Beaver County Planning Zoning Commission & April 18, 2001 The Single Adult Monthly Social was held Monday, April 2 at the Stake Center. A very entertaining program was presented by Jack Waters as he some performed favorite music. It was enjoyed very much by all who were in attendance. An invitation is extended to all single adults age 31 and over. The social is held the first Monday of each month at 2 p.m. In the Relief Society room at the Stake Center. We have varied and interesting programs with light refreshments being served. Also it gives us the opportunity to visit with all-ti- friends we might not see often. We appreciate those who do attend but miss those who could be there. Please come and join us for a fun and friendly afternoon that we may enjoy your company too. As we celebrate Easter in this historic year 2001 , let us not forget the purpose of our celebration. It was the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. When I think of Easter A takes me back when we visited in Jerusalem. We walked where Jesus walked. I brought home little rocks I picked up along the way as we visited the holy places. We stood by the Tcmb and saw where the rock had been rolled away. We rode along the road to Jerico and saw the old Snarled Sycamore Trees that are still standing after hundreds of years. She was a fu!l tithe payer and gave extra whenever she could, in October of 1996 she went through the St. George Temple and received her own endowments. In 1997 she was able to attend the Manti Temple with her older brother when he and his wife took out their endowments and were sealed. In 1998 she was able to go through the St. George Temple again with her little brother and his wife and watched their family be sealed together for time and all eternity. She is survived by parents Ronald A. Bess and Janet A. Bess, of Parowan, her three brothers R. Kim (Peggy) Bess of Parowan, Shane A. (Wendy) Eess of Parowan, Ranee R.A. (Nichole) Bess of Beaver and 22 nieces'and nephews. Kristy was preceded in death by her grandparents Willard (Cone) Bess, Clead Alger Bess, Alton Heber Atkin and May Augusta Marshall J j; 1 Homecoming Welcome home to Suzanne Walker, who has been on the New Jersey Morristown Mission for the past eighteen months. She returns with honor. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Melvin B. Walker and Rebecca Walker of Cedar City.
