"Research has developed improved techniques for early diagnosis of cardiovascular disorders. In recent years .we have seen the development of drugs, new and more effective methods of treatment and rehabilitation, and spectacular advances in surgery. Rheumatic fever, forerunner of rheumatic heart disease, now can .be prevented", he continued. "Strokes are no longer hopeless, and invalidism can often be reduced and even prevented. This column has been making this observation, off and on, for almost two decades. It is a mistake, otf course, to call all liberals Communists. Relatively few "liberals" have carried card; in the Communist Party; even extreme liberals are not especially wanted inside the party, for they aeeomplsih its goals more easily outside. It does seen that "liberal." are becoming increasingly aware of flaws in the collectivist arguments. Some Americans long accustomed to looking with suspicion upon "capital" or "pro perty" while listening to the plead for "human" rights, are realizing that any planned economy leads to a net loss of freedom and human values. , KEYNES TAKES OVER AGAIN John Maynard Keynes, the most influential of modern day English economicts, Is generally credited with convincing Presi-- j iwm jwoseveu Tnax uie way 10 end the great depression and bring iback prosperity was manipulation of federal finances, including a large deficit until the proper level of recovery had been obtained.
