Previous to this Professor Morris was a member of the faculty at the Brigham Young University. During his absence Mrs. Rachel Bankhead Morris, also a landscape architect, will continue Professor Morris' courses in history and literature of landscape architecture, architectural design, city and community design, landscape design, and planting design. Sheep entering the winter feedine period in good health and flesh can be carried to the lambing period with out adding gram to the ration but the roughage used should be of a high quality. Good alfalfa hay is the only feed needed for most sheep. , If such as timothy or meadow hay, is fed, one d fourth to of a pound cot tonseed or linseed oil should be fed to meet vitamin requirements, Professor Madsen explains. Corn silage can be profitably used in the sheep ration, but it should not be the only roughage fed. When pregnant ewes are fed silage, small amounts should be given at first, grad ually increasing the amount. Not more than three pounds of acceptable corn silage should be fed daily and no moldy or frozen silage. If the ewes are thin, it is advisable to feed them to pound of concentrate feed per head each day for two or three weeks be fore lambing. Both water and salt should be available for the sheep at all times. To eliminate any danger of a pos sible phosphorous deficiency, ground steamed Done meal should be kept before the sheep. If lambs are born weak or dead with enlarged necks, iodine should be fed to the sheep, Pro fessor Madsen points out Iodine can be supplied in a salt mixture containing 300 pounds of ground salt and one ounce of potassium iodine'. This salt mixture should be given the ewes during pregnancy. Overfeeding and insufficient exer cise may cause pregnancy diseases or preparturient paralysis. Exercise, however, should not be violent and ewes heavy with lamb should not be permitted to crowd through narrow doors and gates or to jump over high door sills, Professor Madsen concludes For Victory: Buy Bonds m th one-thi- 0 OUR SCHOOL NEWS rd o o Miss Smith's 1st Grade w dtp learning to weave like Indiana mnpk blankets. It is up to us, let's help Uncle Sam to "Keep Ardella Hadfield 'em Flying." Mr. Steven's 8th Grade In social studies this year we're learning about our government. Before this year we have known little about our government, how it works, why democracy is successful and the president cannot become a dictator. Now we've learned to answer these questions by studying how our government was formed and the names of the framers of our constitution and what they went through to give us the government we have. We're learning to understand the three branches, consisting of the Supreme Court and lower Federal courts; the Legislative branch consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives; and the Executive branch, which consists of our President and his cabinet. Many of us have never known how our democracy works or why one of these three branches cannot become more powerful than the others. We learned this in our social studies book But by teaching us the future rulers of our country, how many more rights we have than other countries due to the work of our fore fathers, the framers of our government, we are practicing democracy and freedom of our government. Therefore we think social studies this year is exDona Potter tremely important. e-- X Flawlessly transparen- tyet they'll wear won- - I derfully well. Spring shades!
