Yesterday the American Legion came and gave us a fine assembly program on the life of George Washington. Cannon and Donald Dunn By j o ;v D4 a Yesterday, Feb. 24th, the American Legion gave us an assembly honoring Washington's birthday. Mr. Stenquist took charge of the program and we want to thank him very much for bringing such an interesting program. The numbers consisted of: Our national theme song, "America," sung by the Bear River High School glee club, after which the prayer was offered by Mr. Jeppson; a song, by Mrs. Dixon, "Oh, My America" and "God Bless America;" a spetch by Mr. Wisely of Salt Lake City; Miss Smith's second grade gave us a number. It was also a song on Washington. The glee club sang some other selections also. Another song was sung by the Bear River City Men's glee, "A Drinking Song," and "In the Little Red School House. Other numbers that were brought by the high school were a trumpet solo by Jimmy Walton, a clarinet solo General News school gave us four numbers, with the girls' quartet helping them out. Also Thelrna $ Jaen showed us her books on Iron and Steel. Yesterday the 8th grades had a dance after the George Washington 5 program. Miss Rasmussen played the piano. We had to do the waltz step. The American Legion members were present and Mr. Wiseley gave a very good speech on Americanism. Washington and Lincoln. The B. R, H. S. boys' glee club sang four very nice numbers. Mrs. Dixon sang for us. There was a quartet from Bear River High School who sang for us, and there was also a quartet from Bear River City. We all enjoyed the program very much and we hope the American Legion and those who took part will come back again.
