'ostmaster Given In formation On Mailin; Of Christmas Cards I i There appears to be some confusion on the part of the public with respect to the i ate cf postage on Christmas and other greeting cards sent under cover of unsealed envelopes. Printed greeting cards mailed under cover of unsealed envelopes are chargeable with postage at the third-clas-s rate of 1J cents for each two ounces, regardless of whether addresse ed for delivery through boxes or general delivery, or by city drop-lettor rural carrier; the rate applicable at nonletter-carrie- r offices does not apply to such cards in unsealed envelopes. Printed Christmas and other greeting cards in unsealed envelopes may berr a simple wiitten inscription not in the nature of personal correspondence such as "Sincerely yours," "Merry Christmas," "Happy New Year," "With Best Wishes," etc., together with the name and address of the sender and of the addressee, without subjecting them to more than the post-offic- er Close On December 23rd chools To BRIGHAM CITY. J. Wheatley, extension economist at the Utah State Agricultural College. This fact was revealed in a recently completed extension service and W. P. A. farm account book project, in which 136 farm record books were obtained from cooperating farmers. p An yield index was computed for each farm from which a record was obtained, giving weight to the acreage and, the yield of each average. An average yield of all crop grown as compared to the state crops equals 100. Farmers having a better yield were rated above 100 and those having a lower yield were rated below 100. Of the 24 farmers whose yield indexes were less than 100, only 2, or secured an income of $600 or better. On the other hand not one of the 14 farmers whose yield indexes were above 150 secured an incorne of better than $600, but '18 or 30 of the 61 farmers whose yield indexes ran between 100 and 150 secured an income in excess of $600. The study clearly shows that it was generally good business in 1935 for farmers in Box Elder County to se cure through good cultivation and cuK ' ural practices yields of from 100 to 130 of the state average yields. High yields of certain highly cultivated crops were more clearly associated with high farm returns than were high yields of alfalfa and other crops requiring only a small amount of labor. According to Dr. Wheatley the study of these farm account books rtrongly suggest that better than average yields are desirable but that in order to insure the farmer an adequate income he must have a business of sufficient size and the high yields must be obtained at reasonable costs. all-cro- 13, drop-lett- nt er Ward Relief Society THE Orpheum Theatre TREMONTON.
