But this is' in danger of losing value due to prolonged 'apid commercial announcements. We sit back in fireside chairs and hear the beautiful adagio lamentoso movement from Tschaikovsky's great sixth, or Pathetique, symphony. The music dies away in a whisper and we are rudely awakened. The merits of Dingbat Hair Restorer are aired. For minutes on end they assail our ears. We slam off the radio in disgust. If commercial program credits must be given, "there ought to be a law" calling for rigid brevity. Particularly where works of great music masters are concerned. True, sponsors pay huge sums for big programs. But the delicacy of suggestion is generally more appreciated than being hit across the ears with verbal blah. Most listeners would feel like purchasing a bottle of the concluding arhouncement read "The Dingbat Hair Restorer Corporation wishes you good evening and pleasant dreams." 4- - :ET: Mr. and Mrs. Vernal d Johns returned Saturday evening after several weeks visit at Richfield. Every school district in the state of Utah will be interested in the facts and figures uncovered by the national survey of public school finances, Dr. L. John Nuttall of the School of the University of Utah states. Forty-e- first-clas- Congress has made an appropriation to carry on a national survey of public school finances. Dr. Nuttall was invited by Dr. Paul R. Mort, general chairman,, to take part in the work at recent meetings in New York and Washington because of his outstanding work in public school finance problems. The Utah educator was appointed to the committee on local school support and is busy now with the other members of the committee in formulating a plan of proceedure to carry on the survey. When their plans are approved, work will commence at once on a systematic survey of the financial support of local schools throughout the country. It is expected to shed new light on the problem of finances in local schools. Dr. Nuttall states that in some parts of the country where schools are supported by xmly a small number of farmers, the school week ha3 been reduced to three days and in some cases school work has been suspended com- ever-perplexi- Hardware Lumber Every once in so often the youth of the nation ways its head knowingly and remarks, "Those Boy Scouts certainly get all the breaks.
