There was uu question about hours or wages simply union - domination, which the . company would not grant. At the time of the tragedy, the men who were injured, together with John P. Sommer and two other men, employed in the office of the company, had left the grounds at the ejose ol the day 's work and wer on their way home about 5:30. Without warning they were fired upon by skulking culprits behind brush growing along the road. Alvin was driving, and fell at the first vo'lly, another man grabbing the wheel and speeding ahead. Almost at the same instant Reuben collapsed, when a bullet entered his right eye nd emerged at the basejof the brain.
