SAUNDERS, Publisher PUBLISHED SUBSCRIPTION ODELT FORD Per Year y THE SEMINARY a good car Our Puritan forebearers develop the idea that play or recreation in any form was of the Devil, and to of new be avoided. The influence psychology brought about a radical departure from this view. It says that play is one of the springs of a child's conduct and is considered a biological necessity as beautiful as it Is natural and proper. Some of the T Ford led the motor industry for twenty of its sturdy worth, reliability and econbecause years Those same reasons continue to make it a good car. omy. As a matter of fact, nearly of all the automobiles in use today are Model T Fords. Millions of them can be driven two, three and even five more years with reasonable care and proper replacements. Figures show that the average life is seven years. Don't sacrifice your Mode! T, therefore, but take it to the Ford dealer and have him estimate on the cost of putting it in Al shape. A very small expenditure may be the means of giving you thousands of miles of additional service. For a labor charge of $20 to $25 you can have youv motor and transmission completely overhauled. This price includes new bearings, reboring cylinders and any other work necessary. Parts are extra. Valves can be ground and carbon removed for $3 to $4. The cost of tightening all main bearings is only $6. Hie labor charge for overhauling the front axle is $1.50 to $5 rear axle assembly, $5.75 to $7. New universal joint will be installed for a labor charge of $3. Brake shoes relined for $1.50. Rear spring and perches rebushed for $1.75. The cost of overhauling the starting motor is $3. A labor charge of approximately $2.50 covers the overhauling of the generator. It will pay you, therefore, to see your Ford dealer and have him put your Model T in good running order. By doing so you will protect and maintain the investment you have in your car and get months and years of reliable transportation at a very low cost per mile. th Ford Motor Company ancients understood this, Plato being quoted as saying that "education of the youth must begin in their plays, in which the spirit of law and order should be imparted." Aristotle advocated play, which should be regulated and design to prepare the youth for the business of life. The playground is the cradle of democracy. Here the children may learn to respect the rights of others, leadership is acknowldged and acendorsed by the cepted because group. Initiative and self reliance are promoted but one of the greatest moral forces developed is that of team work. In this, the individual must subordinate his desires to those of the group. Occasionally he must make a' sacrifice hit, that Bomeone else may make a home run. He learns to cooperate and to play the game fairly. Close and lasting friendships are formed. Moral and hygiene habits are fostered through training; which could and should be made to carry over Into actual life. He should, learn that there is more honor In an honorable defeat than in dishonorable victory. No athletes are justifiable that will not bring these results. Supervision of the proper type is a means to this end. There is no excuse for unsupervised playgrounds, where hetrogenous groups mingle promiscuously. It has been found in some of the larger cities that the unsuper-erviseplaygrounds were vertibla hotbeds of vice. There is nothing that will promote, a better feeling than play. The antagonistic attitude, estrange feelings, accumulated for years, are eomen tlme3 wiped out in a few minutes of real play. Bitter feelings cannot long, exist between individuals playing together. In this manner the companionship of parents and children is built up, end a broader feeling of sympathy and understanding is nuri tured. Deserving parents will seldom, if ever, lose control of their children if they continue to be their company ions in play. d About the only things that get Have pride in your home town.
