Brunelle by Staff 367th Training Support Squadron What does an eternal sea of choppy waters. 112 miles of rolling hills and sharp curves, and 26 miles or endless black tar mean to the average person? "Now that I've qualified for Kona, I've finally achieved one of my goals. The next step is to stay under 10 hours in Kona," Wieland said. "Some people say that I have been given a gift to allow me to compete at this level, and they are right. Without the support of who is my coach, motivator, nutritionist, my wife and allows me to be on the bike for what seems to be 2.4-mil- e 12-mi- le two-to-fiv- endless hours I wouldn't be able to compete. She is truly a gift from God. She is the first person I hug at the end of my races, and never thinks twice about what makes me do this." Talking to Wieland's wife, Jenny, you can't help see just how proud and supportive she is of her husband. "Rob puts a lot of time and energy into his training but he always puts his family first and I appreciate that. At 0430 hours, his alarm goes off and then he's gone," she said. "Rob swims in the mornings, rides and runs in the afternoons so that he can be here to spend quality time with our son Nate, daughter Emma and me. If Rob should need to run while at home, he does it after the kids are in bed so that he's here when we need him. "I know that Rob would stop racing tomorrow if I asked him to but I would never take that away from him. Everyone needs something in their life that is just for themselves and for Rob it's triathlons. I'm glad to be part of that."
