He served in the U.S. Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 and attained the rank of First Lt. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1954, Mr Diamanti has served U.S. Embassies in Athens, Greece; Bonn, Germany; and Libreville, Gabon. At the last post, Mr Diamanti helped open and later served as its Deputy Chiaf of Mission. He is currently serving as DCM at our Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda. He will return to that post after this home leave. Prior to his assignment to Ki gali he served as Political Officer at our Consulate General, Hamburg, Germany. Other assignments have taken him to the Department of State, Washington ,as Desk Officer for Equatorial Africa and later as area Personnel Officer for Latin America. Diamanti speaks fluent French, Germany and Greek. Mrs Diamanti, the former Joyce Stewart, is the daughter of Agnes L. Stewart, Salt Lake City. She attended Roland Hall High School, SLC, and Scripps College, and the Universities of California and Geneva, Switzerland. She speaks French and German.
