Fae Laboroi was pleasantly surprised Monday evening when a few of her friends called at her home in honor of her birthday. Her mother, Mrs. Peter Laboroi, assisted by Mrs. Rose Hoffman and Miss Margaret Knobbs prepared a lovely birthday cake enhanced with thirteen yellow candles in pink rosette holders and trimed in white, together with a number of dainty foods. Games added to the hilarity of the evening with the serving of luncheon bringing it to a close. Durkee of Fruita, passed away Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the family home in Fruita. She would have been 16 years old July 2S. Funeral arrangements have not been made. The early years of Catherine Marie's life were spent in Helper, Utah, where the family lived until the death of Mr. Durkee ten years ago, when they returned to Fruita. The girl had graduated from the eighth grade in Fruita, and for two years had been instructed in her home since she was in poor health. She was especially interested in writing, and Daily Sentinel readers will remember several stories written by the little girl for the Boys and Girls section on Sunday. The girl is survived by her r, T. W. mother, her James, and a sister, Virginia Durkee, all residing in Fruita; two grandmothers, Mrs. J. C. Carna-ha- n and Mrs. W. P. Durkee of Denver; and her aunts, Miss Hazel Durkee, Mrs. B. E. Wallace, and Mrs. C, E. Bannon.
