Show Helper, Carbon County, Utah, January 22, 1331 ftl Helper Editor Entered in the Postoffice at HelpWM. T. IGLEHEART, CHEVROLET FAVORS NEWSPAPERS Per Year Advertising Rate Address all Communications to the Helper Times, Helper. on Application. FORUM -- 0 Meeting Competition Editor, Helper Times: of A few days ago a friend mine from Price came to visit me and in our conversation, told me of the excessive price of a article of merchandise which he had to buy. I called up one of our merchants in Helper and found the same article ten dollars cheaper here than at Price. Do you think my friend bought the merchandise in Helper? Not on your life. He went to the merchant in Price and told him what he could buy it for in Helper and the merchant reduced his price $10 to meet the competition and keen the money at home. That friend of mine is a citizen real, and Price should he proud of him. I wish we, in Helper, were all like him. If Helper's payroll was all spent at home our merchants could successfully meet all competition. Anyone who knew the town as I did 20 years ago will tell you it has progressed wonderfully, BUT it is badly in need of boosters. If we spend our money here where it will do us the most good, we can not imagine what a town this will be in another 20 years. Let's remember every dollar earned here and spent elsewhere leaves us that much poorer. So let's get behind our merchants and our city council and boost for Helper, the most progressive town in Utah. Yours for a better place in which to live. PERMANENT RESIDENT. honest-to-goodne- ss Another aggressive advertising discampaign, with newspaper play columns carrying the brunt of the attack, is promised for this year by R. K. White, advertising manager of the Chevrolet Motor company. Long one of the nation's leading advertisers, the Chevrolet organization lent its endorsement to the pulling power of the newspaper by using 6,700 dailies and its new weeklies to announce 1931 car in November, the largest newspaper schedule ever used by Chevrolet In one campaign since the inception of the comwas made pany. This move business condespite ditions and the generally slackenof activities ed promotional manufacturers in and out of the automobile industry. "We made this move," Mr. "because we White explained, are in direct accord with the frequently expressed view that the only way to make bad business good and good business better 13 to put abnormal effort into your activities when you face sub normal conditions. "Not only did we carry the largest newspaper schedule we ever used, but we enlisted new forms of advertising to put our new car message across. Both the radio and the motion picture screen were added this year. Both are new media in our program, and both were added because a manufacturer with a national market intensively cultivated cannot afford to overlook any new means of approach to eub-norm- al that market. "We are continuing to use the radio and the screen to supplement and buttress our newspaper campaign just as we have always outused national magazines, direct mail and door boards, other media for the same purpose. The above communication was and received from a home-buildbooster resident of this communi ty. The Times is glad to print the earnest convictions expressed in the letter, believing that real hometown loyalty 13 of such value as to make such a citizen a nrlceless asset to his communi ty. We might also note here that thia newspaper is glad to print contributions from readers pro viding such are of general interest and without malicious In er "The newspaper, however, continues to form the backbone of our campaigns, and for the present will continue to do go. It, In the parlance of the gridiron, carries the ball and the rest run Interference." o NAMED TO POSITION OF HELPER CITY NIGHT MARSHALL GARAVAGLIO George Garavaglio has been appointed Helper night marshal tent. to fill the vacancy in local police o ranks left by the death of marNEW MAP OF RAILROAD shal John B. DAILY SHIPMENT UTAH EGGS ORDER OF CHAIN STORE Officials of the Utah Poultry Producers associaCooperative tion recently completed negotiations' to furnish" a carload of fresh eggs from Utah daily to a huge eastern chain store organization, it was announced recently. Prices to ba paid for the eggs, according to the agreement, will be one cent per dozen above the highest regular market price, it was made known by C. C. Edmonds, association general manager. The contract was drawn up during a conference In Salt Lake between the head of the store chain and executives of the poultry association including Mr. Edmonds and Benjamin Brown, director of markets at New York. As a result of the agreement a constant outlet Is afforded of Utah's comabout one-fift- h mercial eggs at prices at least one cent higher than could be secured on the open market. The identity of the company and its disrepresentative were not closed. The store chain involved In the deal embraces over 1,000 unit retail stores. The Utah eggs will be sold by this organization direct to the consumer, Utah eggs, because of their superior quality, are already receiving premiums over the regular market prices of eggs in the east. Under the agreement with the chain store these high premium prices will be increased by one cent per dozen for one earload of eggs each day. The contract with the chain organization calls for day-ol- d eggs, meaning the eggs must be shipped not later than 24 hours after they are laid. Like all Utah eggs handled by the Association, they will b carefully graded and packed and then sent to the market via fast freight. The contract is cited as high tribute to the fine quality and reputation of the Utah product as well as an indication that conditions of the Industry are not aa bad as some people would have the producers believe. -- Ads- - for HudRear bump-rit- e LOST son car, Jan. 19.
