WASHINGTON, The department of C, Jan. 15 commerce announces a summary of the financial statistics of the state of Utah for the fiscal year einling June 30, 1929. Expenditures The payments for operation and maintenance of the general departments of Utah amounted or $18.68 per to $9,267,378, capita. Revenues The total revenue receipts were $12,234,686, or $24.66 per capita. This was $2,521,408 more than the total payments of the year, exclusive of the payments for permanent improvements, and $714,576 more than the total payments including those for improvements. This permanent is, receipts excess of revenue reflected in reduction of debt, and in purchase of investments and increased cash balances, not shown in this summary. Property and special taxes represented 45.4 per cent of the total repenu-for 1929, 45.2 per cent for 1928, and 59.5 per cent for 1917. The increase in the amount of property and special taxes collected was 124.4 per cent from 1917 to 1929, but there was a decrease of 0.8 per cent from 1928 to 1929. The per capita property and special taxes were $11.19 in 1929. $11.39 in 1928, and $5.-7in 1917. Earnings of general departments, or compensation for services rendered by State officials, represented 9.1 per cent of the total revenue for 1929, 8.5 per cent for 1928, and 7,5 per cent for 1917. liBusiness and nonbusiness censes constituted 22.7 per cent of the total revenue for 1929, 23.3 per cent for 1928, and 6.7 per cent for 1917.
