L. CONNER, Publisher RUTH METZ, Society Editor AWAKENED INTEREST Sirme the daring flights by American aviators in recent times, the world is awakening to the possibilities of air navigation and an added interest is no- ticeable. In this country it is proposed that air ports be built in every large city and definite air routes established. Recent information states that the Argentine Oangress now has under discussion a bill appropriating the sura of 3,780,000 pesos (the Argentine peso is worth about 42li cents United States currency) to further aeronautical activities in that republic. The bill provides for training schools, airdromes, training machines, salaries, etc. The Ministry of Public Works of the Chechoslovakian Kepblic states that in the near future it will receive eight have recreate building or goods that been reduced to ashes. large passenger plains. THE HELPER TIMES AMERICA MUST CHECK COLOSSAL EIRE LOSS Xo nation, however rich, can afford a sheer waste of over haff a billion dollars a year. This fum represents the annual direct property loss from fire in the United States, but it by no means tells the whole story. It does not take into account the cost of maintaining firef ighting forces, or the in direct loss in wages, profits, custom and good will which comes from interrup tion of business. The grand annual to tal of the American fire waste mounts to an appalling figure. Worse yet, every 24 hours some two score citizens are burned to death. The tragedy of it all is heightened by the fact that probably 90 per cent of all fires are preventable. There can be no daubt that a large part of our apathy toward fire losi results from the oV wion which wo cherish about insurance. We believe that insurance pays for fire. It does not, and never can. It distributes fire losses, but it cannot .... sescpii-centenni- Rusty Nine Defeats Keniiworth Ball Team The "Rusty Nine" ended up their string of wins for the week with an to 4 victory over Keniiworth, Thursday. For the first three innings the score was tied at one all, but the Bus- ties soon showed their superiority when they made seven in the fourth. Keniiworth used four pitchers in the course of the game in their effort to stem the tide, but all in vain, for the Busties knocked most of them all over the lot. Redd held the visitor's moamd for the first three innings and did much better than the other thre twirlers. V. Sim mons, J. Simmons and Veek did the twirling for the remainder of the sev en innings. The fielding of the losers was good, but it was through the lack of a com petent pitcher that lost the game for them. Reed, a new pitched in the box for Helper, hurled a creditable game or ball, for he held the visitors down to only five hits, on which they made four rims. Duntou, Busty third baseman, led the sluggers with a homer iu the seventh. Colzani, and Canto made two two- baggers for Keniiworth 's share of the slugging. Osana, trusty Helper catcher, Zeckeri, and Beed slugged out a er, Zeckeri and Beed each got a for Helper. The Spartans had invaded Attica as usual about the time crops were ripening in the fields. The space within the walls was crowded. Many families toot refuge In a single house.
