However, no matter how much people might hate getting "stuck," immunizations are necessary and a part of Air Force life. As a matter of fact, servicemembers don't even have to remember when it's time for them to get a shot; they're reminded when it's time for another one. What many people forget is when it's time for the family member to get their immunizations. According to a technician at the U.S. Air Force Hospital, Hill Immunization Clinic, some shots are given to adults at different times than they are to children. Some rules, however, apply to both. "Everyone we serve must present his or her valid immunization record before we will administer an immunization," said Sgt. Geri A. Thomas, an immunization technician at the clinic. "We don't keep records of any kind here, so it's up to people to maintain their own." Most people have the International Certificate of Immunization (yellow folded record) which is the standard form used in the Air Force. Yellow Fever (for those on mobility) every 10 years. Cholera, Plague, Gamma only when needed to enter foreign country. Not routinely required. Children Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis and Oral Polio Vaccine when two, four and six months old, and again at 18 months. Shot is then given a child when between the ages of 4 and 6. TB Tine and Measles, Mumps, Rubella at 15 months. Haemophilus Influenza Type "B" (HIB) when child is between 2 and 5 years old. Tetanus, Diphtheria when child is from 14 to 16 years old and thereafter every 10 years. I Hours . The Immunization Clinic is open Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. (except Thursdays when allergy skin tests are given in the afternoon); and Fridays from 8:30 a m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call the clinic at Ext. 75209.
