It has been tried in a few instances by lioarding schools out of the city. The experiment so far has proved encouraging, especially in the matter of scholarship. Pupils come better prepared with lessons Tuesday morning than they formerly did when Monday recitations followed a rest. The markings, at any rate, show better up to this time. Thu in the theory npon which the change is advocated. Those who go home from lioarding schools or seminaries to spend Sunday, leave Friday night and return Monday morning, often late for recitations and usually unprepared. Monday morning had thus never been satisfactory to teachers or pupils at such schools. Tardy returns Monday morning seem unavoidable, not only because trains are infrequent Sunday, but also because parents do not want their children to travel that day. - With the change proposed pupils can get home as easily after school Saturday as they can Friday. Their. Sunday is undisturbed, and parents are flteposed to start them back to school Monday afternoon. Tuesday's lessons can thus be prepared Monday evening. In a less degree the experiment has proved beneficial also to pupils who live at or near the school. Saturday study is out of the question when that day is a holiday, and Sunday study never did find favor with pupils or parents. The new order remedies all that. New York Times. The herds of horses on a western ranch,' roaming over so large a space, rarely encounter one another. When they do the marcs evince only the smallest possible amount of curiosity, but join and graze. Different is it with the stallions.
