Tarc--e deputies were sent over and two went intiide the room and another remained within call. A demand was made by t he visitors for a ckar title free of cwt. This was demurred to by Hudson who claimed he " lad paid fl.Ono to Cunningham He wanti-it and hark. finally agreed to uieet a committee of the visiting property owners at 2 o'clock and give them the terms on u and make a which he would quit-cia- i clear title. The first party took place abmt 11 o'clock in the forenoon. At the appointed hour Messrs. Maguiro and Whipple called on Hudson and he informed them that his terms to let go on would be six dollars an acre. This basis was reported by the committee to a meeting of the property owners, held at the Chamber of Commerce rooms at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. After a good deal of kicking it was finally agreed to accept the Hudson proposition. The committee was sent a second time to inform Hudson of the acceptance of the property owners. What was their surprise to be informed that what Hudson had first offered to do he would not do. wiih the Apparently encouraged agreement to his first d smand hs now raised his claim to one dollar a lot for 25 feet front which would be about nine dollars an acre instead of sis, or an advance of fifty per cent, oa his first agreement. Of course the committee could not accept this new basis and reorted Hud-soutack to the men interested. Another meeting was agreed upon for this morning, and from what could be learned last evening the men interested are disposed to ask that the title be cleared up without any more dodging or hedging. These are the facts of the situation as near as could be ascertained yesterday. There was a disposition all around to try to keep the proceedings quiet, but the foregoing points were fairly well subd 's stantiated. The talk of property owners and most everybody was to the effect that this is simply a sort of hold-ugame, without warrant of business principles, injurious to every man in Ogden, and absolutely without one shadow of justification. Not a word in mitigation of the act was heard yesterday and it may be doubted whether there ever was such unanimity on any proposition among Ogden citizens as there is that this blemishing of titles to squeeze poperty holders is one of the things that no good citizens should attempt. al- p fr plaintiff Northern on Monday.
